Using pressure transmitters, pressure gauges, sensors and pressure transmitters of various designs can be installed in places where measurement is difficult. Pressure transmitters can be used in the range from 10 mbar to 1600 bar, including high temperatures (range from -90 ° C to + 400 ° C), in aggressive, corrosive, strong viscosity, heterogeneous and toxic measured media, which allows to measure pressure in extreme conditions. Based on the experience gained over time, it has been established which designs of pressure transmitting devices are most suitable for application under certain conditions. Today there are three basic types.

This review briefly describes the most common types of pressure transmitters. The upper part of the membrane pressure transmitters is usually made of chrome-nickel steel. For parts coming into contact with the medium to be measured, in all versions of pressure transmitters, special materials are used, for example:

  • Chrome-nickel steel;
  • Hastelloy B2;
  • Hastelloy C4;
  • Hastelloy С276
  • Incoloy Alloy 825;
  • Incoloy Alloy 600;
  • Monel Alloy 400;
  • Monel Alloy K500;
  • Nickel;
  • Tantalum;
  • Titanium;
  • Zirconium;
  • Silver;
  • Teflon.

Contacting of these special materials (except titanium, zirconium, teflon) with metal is done using patented technology.

In addition, there is a large selection of filling liquids for a variety of uses, for example, silicone oils for low temperatures up to -90° C and high temperatures up to +400° C; Glycerin, vegetable oil and paraffin oil for the food industry; halocarbon oil for working with chlorine and oxygen.

Installation of pressure transmitters on measuring instruments can be carried out rigorously directly on the instrument itself or with help of a movable capillary wire. "Hard" mounting is performed by direct screwing or welding the measuring devices to the pressure transmitting device. It can be made with the help of a connecting element. When working with high temperatures, an intermediate cooling element may be installed.
